The Best Questions to Ask in a Feedback Widget
The question you ask determines the quality of the feedback you get. A great prompt leads to clear, actionable responses without extra back-and-forth.
The highest-signal questions
Use one of these as your default prompt:
- “What were you trying to do today?”
- “What slowed you down?”
- “What should we improve next?”
These questions are direct and lead to usable answers.
Optional follow-ups
If you need a bit more context, add one optional field:
- “What device or browser are you using?”
- “Can you share a screenshot?”
Avoid long forms. Fewer fields mean more responses.
Tone matters
Keep the tone friendly and human. Replace formal survey language with a short, conversational line.
Test and iterate
Rotate your prompt monthly. See which one delivers the most actionable feedback and keep it as your default.
